About Eldwick Creamery

About Us

Eldwick Creamery Ltd was formed in 2022 by Daniel and Laura, a husband and wife who had ambitions of starting their own business to help them create a work/life balance and spend as much time with their children as they could.

Daniel has enjoyed cooking since a young age and was inspired by cooking shows of the 90’s and exciting chefs such as Gary Rhodes and Jamie Oliver. Providing people with joy through food was something that came naturally, whilst at the same time providing endless learning opportunities and chances to innovate. As he grew, he dreamed of opening a Deli in Bingley and providing a place where people can see food being created, reminding him of younger days in Blackpool seeing rock being made from nothing.

Over the years, he accumulated a number of food-related gifts, but the one that continually stumped him and proved to challenge his impetuous nature was a cheese making kit. As the years passed and the cheesemaking kit went well past its expiry date, Daniel woke up one snowy November morning in 2021 and decided that was the day to challenge himself. A 6 mile trudge over Baildon Moor later (in horrendous snow), the milk was heated, expired rennet was dissolved he was hooked.

Two years later, after winning six awards including a Great Taste Award, The Deli was opened and a boyhood dream was realised. Now we want to keep pushing ourselves and to provide you with joy through food.

Why choose us

We believe in celebrating the ingredients that are readily available on our doorstep and working with people who are as passionate about what they do we are. We believe in supporting local farmers, so all of our milk is sourced from single-herd farmers within the Aire Valley. We take the time to get to know our farmers, understand their passion and craft and, most importantly, do not try to squeeze them on price. We try our best to showcase their product through our cheese.

We believe in producing cheese with love and affection. All of our cheeses are handcrafted and always will be. No pumps, no vacuums, no automated machines. ‘Perfect’ cheese from a supermarket is standardised in almost every way. Milk changes with the seasons, the diet of the animals, the ripening conditions. We don’t believe in wasting resources to achieve a standardised product so work with our ingredients to make the best produce we can.

We believe in sustainability. As we grow, we will do so conscious of our impact on the planet and reducing our footprint and investing in renewable energy. We will sacrifice profit to ensure our products come in recyclable and/or compostable packaging. We restrict our use of refrigeration/temperature control to the absolute minimum. Whey, the by-product of cheesemaking, is harmful to the environment and is often disposed of. We work with a local farmer to provide feed for their livestock and as our business grows, we will develop other products to utilise the whey.

We believe in supporting other people. We donate a proportion of every batch we make to charitable causes so that those who may be in need can enjoy some high quality produce. We are also proud to sponsor one of the Bingley Junior football teams, promoting fitness, wellbeing and teamwork in young children.

Finally, we believe in making cheesemaking more accessible. It is easy to be put off by the hundreds of styles, expensive courses or expensive equipment. Cheesemaking is, at its heart, simply a way of preserving milk and we want to share our experiences and inspire other people to try produce their own food. Our blog on this website will try to demystify some aspects of the process and, in the coming months, we will look to develop both cheesemaking courses and kits to make at home.
